jamie L. Joost
Hi, I'm Jamie, currently the Library Director, former Library Assistant, at the Red Bud Public Library. My favorite quote is "Our minds are shaped by the books we read. Our characters by the people we meet. Our spirits by the love we give." said by Robin Sharma. My previous jobs include opening at the Red Bud YMCA, Library Supervisor for pre-K thru 8th grade, Educational Assistant for Title II/III, Counselor Assistant for Vocational Rehabilitation, Bridal/Formal Wear Retail Associate, Tutor for Adult Literacy Program, Insurance Agent Secretary, house cleaning, babysitting and waitressing.
I was born in Southern California and moved to the Midwest when I was a teenager. I moved to Illinois when I married my husband Kevin, going on 28 years; I have 2 children, Adrianne and Tristan. We moved to Red Bud in October 2011. I've had all kinds of pets through the years, but those who watched the "Storytime with Miss Jamie" will know about Shrimp the Cat. Something that I love about working at the library is that there are always new books to read and new people to meet. Outside of working at the library, I love to go hiking, reading (of course), spending time with family, collecting KISS and Wizard of Oz memorabilia, playing arcade games and finding crazy socks and snoozies. Something most people might not know about me is that I love peanut butter sandwiches with pickles or lettuce and that I love old musicals and old scary movies, like Vincent Price movies. My favorite children's book is I Love You, Stinky Face by Lisa McCourt; my favorite book series is Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum; and my favorite author is Janet Evanovich. My favorite movie is Wizard of Oz.

Bailee C. McCarthy
Hi, I'm Bailee, currently the Assistant Librarian at the Red Bud Public Library. My favorite quote is "I have lived a thousand lives and loved a thousand loves. I've walked on distant worlds and seen the end of time. Because I read." said by George R.R. Martin. My first job was a dishwasher in the IGA deli at 15. After that, I worked at the Red Bud Dairy Queen for 3 years. Then I worked at Back Street Wine and Dine in Hecker, for another 4 years. In May of 2017, I graduated from Red Bud High School and in August of 2017, I began my college education at Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL. At Blackburn, I worked for Campus Services (cleaning) for a year and then for the school newspaper, The 'Burnian, until I graduated in May of 2021 with a Bachelor's of Arts in History. My first day at the Library was June 30, 2021.
I am a born and raised Red Bud-ian. I have three cats, Riley, Liam and Leah, and 1 betta fish. I love to read, so the library is a bookworm's dream job! What I love most about the library is the interactions with people and finding out what they love to read. Everyone is so different in their reading choices and I find that the most interesting part of working at the library. Outside of working at the Library, I love to cross-stitch, do small sewing projects, create things with my Cricut, play Sims 4 or Animal Crossing and of course, read! Something most people might not know about me is that my great-grandfather, Frank McCarthy, Sr, owned "Frank's Tavern" from early 1940s through early 1960s (the current Uptown restaurant). Currently, my favorite book is Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston; my favorite book series is the Blood and Ash Series by Jennifer Armentrout; and my favorite author is Tessa Bailey. My all-time favorite movie is The Goonies.
